GPs with more than 50 +ve cases to be locked down for 5 days, announces Udupi DC

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on Monday announced that gram panchayats in the district that have more than 50 COVID-19 positive cases will be locked down for 5 days.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the DC and district officials with district in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai on a video link to control the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

“Only drug stores and agricultural activities will be allowed during this period,” Jagadeesha said.

On Tuesday, 516 COVID-19 cases were reported in the district along with 4 deaths and 765 recoveries.

The total number of deaths in the district due to the virus has risen to 333.

Presently, 58,727 cases are active in the district.
