Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Wednesday said that the number of COVID-19 cases is steadily decreasing owing to complete lockdown in the state. Keeping in mind the third wave and the atrocities of the virus, the State government is planning to extend the lockdown, he said.
The state economy has been hit badly due to COVID-19 infection. While one part of the population questions about the future and asks to loosen the restrictions and make way for employment, the others want the lockdown to be extended.
The Chief Minister informed that the issue will be discussed in the State Cabinet today, Wednesday, June 2, where the final decision will be made.
Responding to the media, Yediyurappa informed that the number of Covid-19 positive cases hasn’t come under control and hence the lockdown may be extended in order to bring things under control. He further added that the restrictions in some areas have been relaxed.
He further requested everyone to co-operate with the government.
Talking about the sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in rural areas, BSY said that the final decision will be taken today at the Cabinet meeting taking into consideration the experts’ advice and making sure people don’t face any difficulties.
