Etawah: A video of an elderly woman taking cover behind a drum in order to avoid getting vaccinated during a door-to-door vaccination drive in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah has surfaced on the internet.
While the now viral video may come across as funny, it highlights the hesistancy and lack of awareness among people, especially in rural parts of India, in taking the Covid-19 jab.
The incident took place on Tuesday when BJP MLA Sarita Bhadauria and Health Department team arrived at Chandanpur village for the vaccination drive. The woman, said to be in her 80s hid behind a drum when the team arrived at her house.
In the video, she can be seen refusing to come out from behind the drum upon being called by her family members. Finally a doctor from the team convinces her to atleast come out and listen to the MLA. The lady was finally vaccinated the same day.
