Udupi: Three men and a woman filed a case under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 against a health official of the Udupi Town Council after stopping them from clearing an illegal fish vending stall at Brahmagiri Circle here.
Officials from the Town Council had visited the spot on complaints regarding the illegal stall.
After verifying that the stall was illegal the officials ordered to clear it.
While the clearance operation was ongoing, the stall owners Radha, Ashok, Pramod and Suhail stopped the officials from conducting their duties.
Later, a case was registered at the Udupi city police station by them against a health department official present there for allegedly using a casteist slur against Radha.
