Kozhikode: A Bengaluru-based engineer who left to fight in the Libyan civil war has reportedly died.

Abu Bakr’s name is mentioned in an Islamic State document titled ‘Know Your Martyrs.’

His death is yet to be confirmed by Indian investigation agencies.

Born into a Christian family here, Abu left for Dubai after working for some time in Bengaluru.

There he was reportedly radicalised and later joined the terrorist organisation.

His passport still bears his Christain name which, security analysts assume, might have made it easy for him to travel to Libya.

The ISIS document further states that Abu died in a suicide bombing somewhere in the African continent.
