Davangere: To condemn the Centre over petrol prices breaching the ₹100-mark in the state, the Youth Congress staged an agitation in Davangere.
They appealed to the branch managers of various nationalized banks in the city to offer loans to its customers to buy, petrol and diesel.
Responding to this, the branch managers said that they have not received any order regarding this from the head office and RBI.
National Youth Congress spokesperson Mainuddin H J, said, ” The general public is facing hardship because of the high taxes on the petrol levied by the Centre. It has aggravated the problems of the common people who have already been facing financial crisis due to job losses amid Covid-19 pandemic.”
He further said, ” Banks provide vehicles loans to its customers to buy their desired vehicle. But what will they do with the vehicle when petrol prices are rising. Generally, one person spends Rs 3000 per month on petrol. Hence, Narendra Modi government must direct banks to provide loans to the people to buy petrol.”
