Ex-IAS officer Anup Chandra Pandey appointed Election Commissioner

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday appointed former Indian Administrative Services officer Anup Chandra Pandey as election commissioner.
The post was lying vacant after former Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora demitted office on April 12.
Pandey, who is an Uttar Pradesh cadre of the 1984 batch, will join the poll panel as one of the two Election Commissioners, the other being Rajiv Kumar.
The Election Commission comprises a Chief Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners.
