Mangaluru: District Administration decides to impose complete lockdown in villages, areas with high cases

Mangaluru: District administration of Dakshina Kannada has decided to impose complete lockdown in villages and areas where there are more Covid cases, also sealing down the houses of the infected people.

A meeting in this regard was held at the auditorium of the DC office. It was chaired by district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

Kota said, ” The positivity rate in the district is not reduced and it is important to implement strict measures to bring down the positivity rate of Covid. Also, Covid testing must be increased.”

CEO of zilla panchayat Dr Kumar said, “Houses of Covid-19 positive persons are being sealed down and several panchayat representatives are asking us to completely seal down their villages to curb the spread.”

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, ” People are not taking Covid-19 seriously. Despite lockdown, many are roaming unnecessarily. To bring down the positivity rate, people must follow Covid guidelines.”

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V said, “ Lockdown rules cannot be relaxed now as it will be difficult for us to bring down the positivity rate. Also, necessary action has been initiated to supply equipments, lab technicians and vehicles to primary health care centers.”

MLAs Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Umanath Kotian, Rajesh Naik, Mayor Premananda Shetty, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Akshi Sridhar, SP Hrishikesh Sonawane, Additional deputy commissioner Prajna Ammembala, DCP Hariram Shankar, Assistant commissioner Madan Mohan and district health officer Dr Kishore were also present.
