Heavy rains lash country’s west coast; property damages reported in K’taka, Mumbai floods

Mangaluru, Udupi, Mumbai: The monsoon, which waned for a few days across coastal Karnataka, has been raging again, with Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts receiving a good amount of rain since Friday.
In Mangaluru city it rained heavily on Saturday evening. A tree fell on a house near Kunjatabailu. The house’s owner and a woman were injured.
Throughout Udupi district heavy rains fell the whole day on Saturday.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a forecast of heavy rainfall up to June 15 for coastal Karnataka.
In Mumbai, heavy rains, along with thunderstorms, lashed the commercial capital.
The torrential rains resulted in varied bus and train traffic and disrupting people’s lives. The IMD has announced a Red Alert in Mumbai for the next 2 days.
