Min Sudhakar opposes new RGUHS Vice Chancellor appointee

Bengaluru: A controversy has erupted after Dr Jayakara SM was appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
Dr Jayakara presently serves as the principal of the AECS Maruthi College of Dental Sciences here and been involved in an alleged bribery case.
For this reason, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar is opposing his appointment to the 26-year-old premier medical education institution of the State.
In 2013, when Dr Jayakara was an executive member of the Dental Council of India (DCI), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had conducted searches in his office in Bengaluru after an allegation of him taking bribes for granting permission to dental colleges to teach postgraduate courses.
Dr Jayakara is also said to be close to Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan and associated with the Dr CN Ashwath Narayan Foundation.
Minister Sudhakar had said that he would be discussing the issue with the Governor soon.
