Beltangady: The police here intercepted a convoy of 69 vehicles secretly en route to Dharmasthala at midnight on June 19 and 20.

The police stopped the vehicles at the Gundya checkpost on the border of the Dakshina Kannada district.

All the vehicles were made to return from the checkpost.

For the past many days, hundreds of devotees have been arriving in the temples at Dharmasthala and Subramanya.

Suspecting that the devotees are secretly entering the district, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV ordered strict vigilance at all border checkposts, especially during nighttime.

This attempted arrival of vehicles early on June 20 confirmed the suspicion of secret vehicular movements at night during the ongoing lockdown.
