Health check-up of all school children in Udupi dist by end of July, instructs Min Bommai

Udupi: District in-charge minister Basavaraj Bommai ordered that all school children in the district must have their health checked-up before the end of July as a precautionary measure to prevent the third wave of COVID-19 in Udupi district.

Bommai was speaking at a review meeting on the district’s COVID-19 status on Monday through video conference.

“Collect information of all children studying in the district’s schools and check their health at the school where they study. During the health check-up, ensure that there is one MBBS physician, an AYUSH physician and paediatrician in the team deployed to visit the schools,” he said.

“Make a comprehensive survey of malnutrition and other problems in children during the check-up and provide medicines for free to the children if needed. Inform parents of children about the health checkup in schools through school principals and Anganwadi workers. Take action to ensure that children come to health checkups with their parents,” the minister added.

MLAs Sunil Kumar, Lalaji R Mendon, Coastal Development Authority chairman Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Naveen Bhat, SP Vishnuvardhan, District Surgeon Dr Madhusudan Nayak, DHO Dr Nagabhushana Udupa and others were present at the conference.
