Mangaluru: Former MLC and Congress leader Ivan D’Souza on Tuesday, June 22 said that though there are hoardings and boards put up everywhere stating free vaccination to all, private hospitals are charging up to Rs 1,000.
Addressing media here he said, “Hoardings and boards in the city state free vaccination to all, but in private hospitals, they charge up to Rs 1,000. MP and MLA should give an answer on whether the vaccination is for rich or poor.”
The former MLC warned of a protest if the district administration failed to provide free vaccination in the district.
“District administration should take steps in providing free vaccination for all. It should not be sold for money as it is a life-saving drug. Everyone should get the vaccination for free, if not we will hold a protest,” he said
“Dakshina Kannada district administration has failed in adopting effective measures necessary during the lifting of the lockdown. All the shops should be allowed to operate for the entire day. Even the bus should be permitted to ply on the road. However, the guidelines should be changed for weddings and funerals. The maximum number of people allowed at a wedding should be increased from 50 to 100,” said Ivan D Souza.
Congress leaders Shashidhar Hegde, Appi, Mohammed, and others were present.
