Mangaluru: After the district administration granted permission for resuming bus service in the Dakshina Kannada with 50 percent capacity from June 23, Dakshina Kannada District Bus Owners’ Association, Dilraj Alva said that they have decided not to operate buses till the month-end.
Dilraj Alva speaking after the announcement by the district administration said that they have decided not to operate buses from June 23 till the month-end in order to avoid paying tax for the whole month.
He further added, “50% passenger capacity rule is not a favorable situation as the current diesel price is very high. Further, there are road works going around the entire city, forcing us to look for alternative routes.
“Before taking the buses to the roads, they need to be taken to a garage since they have been parked for the past two months. Repairs might be needed and all these works take time and therefore the buses will not operate this month,” he added.
The new guidelines issued by the district administration have permitted the movement of buses in the district on weekdays from 7 am to 1 pm from June 23. However, the buses will not be allowed to operate when the weekend curfew is in place.
