B’luru: Woman trying to sell 1947 Rs 1 coin online cheated of Rs 1 lakh

Bengaluru: A Bengaluru woman was cheated of Rs 1 lakh by a cyber fraudster while trying to sell a Rs 1 coin minted in 1947 online.

The resident of Sarjapura had placed an advertisement on the OLX platform, offering to sell a one rupee coin belonging to the year 1947. An unidentified person called her said he would buy the coin for a huge price.

The person offered her Rs 1 crore for the antique coin and asked her to pay Rs 1 lakh for various transfer charges.

The 38-year-old transferred the money after which the buyer’s phone was switched off.

Investigations are underway and a case has been registered under various sections of the IT Act and IPC section.
