BBMP plans to cut 833 trees for metro construction work

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a public consultation to cut down 833 trees on the city’s Outer Ring Road for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s construction work.
The civic body said that the trees are causing hindrance to the work. These trees are located along the 19.633 km length between Central Silk Board junction and KR Puram and up to Baiyappanahalli depot where 13 elevated Metro stations are planned.
As per the new notice, the public gets ten days to file objections or suggestions. “People can file objections before July 4 regarding this notification,” BBMP Deputy Conservator of Forests HS Ranganatha Swamy said.
