Karnataka announces relief package for tourism and hospitality sector

Bengaluru: State’s Tourism Minister CP Yogeshwar on Thursday announced a relief package for the tourism and hospitality industry.
All registered tourist guides will be given a financial compensation of Rs 5,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Additionally, all hotels and resorts have been exempted from paying electricity charges for the months of April and May along with a 50 per cent concession on taxes except excise.
Hotels and resorts will be allowed to pay 50 per cent of the excise and additional taxes now and the remaining by December 31.
