Bengaluru: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said that on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, action has been taken to destroy Rs 50 cr worth of drugs seized in the state last year on Saturday.
Speaking to the reporters, Bommai said, ” The drugs will be destroyed as per the court direction. A total of 4,666 cases have been registered last year and 5,291 persons have been arrested. Also, 12 types of drugs including, opium, charas, LSD, Ganja, brown sugar, heroin, cocaine etc have been seized.”
” All the cases have been registered under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychiatric Substances Act and the accused will not be granted bail easily,” he added.
