Mysuru: Former Minister M B Patil on Sunday said that it is not true that there are no alternate Lingayat leaders in the state.

Speaking to the reporters, Patil said,”  BS Yediyurappa is one of the most prominent Lingayat leaders. There is no doubt about it. But I do not agree that there are no alternate Lingayat leaders. There are many Lingayat leaders in Congress including me, Sharanprakash Patil and Ishwar Khandre. BJP too has many leaders such as Jagadish Shettar, Umesh Kathi, Yatnal, V. Somanna, Arvind Bellad. All are eligible for the CM position.”

“It is not right to declare ourselves as the Chief Minister. People of the state will decide which party will be in power and later the High command will decide who will be the Chief Minister,” he added
