Mandya: In a horrific incident, a 13-year-old boy was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten up for entering farmland while grazing his sheep, at Belagola village in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district.
The victim is a native of Muddenahalli in Sira Taluk of Tumakuru district.
On Sunday, when the boy was grazing his sheep at Belagola, some of his animals strayed into the farmland belonging to Harsha, a native of the village.
Pursuing them, the boy also ventured into the farmland, which lies on the roadside, to bring the sheep back.
Harsha, who saw the boy in his farmland questioned him for trespassing and took him to a coconut grove, where he and some of hid friends allegedly tied him to a tree and thrashed him.
Hearing the boy’s screams, the owner of a nearby food court informed the police. The boy’s father, who was searching for him, also rushed to the farm, only to see his son tied to a tree.
Local police have registered an FIR based on a complaint from the boy’s father.
