Bengaluru: Congress in Karnataka on Thursday announced that ‘Covid warriors’ will be appointed across villages in the state to audit Covid-19 deaths.

State Congress chief D K Shivakumar said, “This is being done because the state government has been under-reporting deaths related to the pandemic. Our Covid warriors will visit each house to collect data relating to Covid-19 deaths.”

He further said that the party would then submit a “comprehensive list” of Covid-19 deaths to the state government after completing the survey.

Recently, Congress had accused the BJP government in the State of ‘misrepresenting’ actual number of deaths due to COVID-19. The party demanded that the government comes clean on the fatalities by carrying out a death audit during the second wave in the State.
