Mangaluru: 918 SSLC students to appear for Tulu subject exam this year

Mangaluru: 918 SSLC students from the twin districts will be appearing for the Tulu subject examination this year.

The State government had allowed Tulu to be selected as a third language in schools from the academic year 2014-15

The examination for the subject will be held on July 22.

Last year, a total of 956 students appeared for the Tulu subject examination.

This year the highest number of students for the sybject are from the Puttu taluk with Belathangady coming second.

70 students from the Government High School at Venur will be appearing for the examination – the highest from a school.

In 2019-20, 2,600 students from 42 schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district selected Tulu as their third language.

This year, 2,270 students studied the subject at 43 schools in the twin districts.

“In the past years, students had acheived good scores in the Tulu exam and this year too students have been taught well and are expected to achieve well. A total of 918 SSLC students will be writing the exams,” said Dayananda Kattalsar, president of the Tulu Sahitya Akademi.
