Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in a notice has stated that criminal cases will be registered for parking vehicles on footpaths or encroaching public spaces in the city.
The notice stated that obstruction and bad condition of public infrastructure is a violation of the citizen’s rights and hence a crime.
BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has instructed officials at the zonal level to chalk out an action plan to implement the rule.
In the coming days, the zonal officials will be creating awareness about the rules in the zones following which penalties and legal action will be taken against violators.
Zonal level staff will also be entrusted to monitor public spaces and coordinate with the local police for implementing the rule.
