Bengaluru: After Karnataka High Court directed Bengaluru Police to stop the identification of suspects in media announcements, they have begun leaving out the arrested persons’ names and blurring their pictures.

During the hearing of a petition, filed by advocate H Nagabhushan Rao against the disclosure of investigation details by police to the media, the High Court on June 15 said police should not reveal details of cases before investigations are completed.

In his writ petition in which 11 Kannada television channels and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have been named as respondents, Nagabhushan Rao said police were providing details of cases before completion of investigations and this would hamper the process of justice in the courts.

The court has also the state government to formulate comprehensive guidelines and posted the matter for hearing on July 20.
