Bengaluru: To address the issue of internet networks causing problems for students in rural areas for online education, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar on Monday held a lengthy discussion with the chief secretary of the State.

The chief secretary informed Kumar that the secretary of the Information Technology Department, Ramana Reddy, has already discussed the issue with mobile network companies in the State and all of them have responded positively.

“The current rainy season has increased the issue of mobile network availability in rural areas of the State hampering the process of online education of students,” Kumar said.

“With the delay in starting physical school classes in the present situation of the pandemic, the need to rely on online education has become necessary,” he added.

Kumar also said that the chief minister has also instructed the chief secretary to take action in this regard.

“An alternative also being planned is to implement online learning systems at gram panchayat libraries,” Kumar said.

In this regard, the minister held a discussion with the chief minister’s advisor Prashant Prakash and the State government’s educational advisor Professor Doreswamy to implement online education through television or mobile to those students deprived of it by utilizing the 5,766 gram panchayat libraries in the State.

“As soon as the SSLC exam is over, the RDPR Department will check for improvement of the education system including toilets and drinking water facilities in schools. The Education Department’s Task Force will look at all these aspects and formulate practical steps,” Suresh Kumar said.
