Bengaluru: In a letter to opposition leader Siddaramaiah, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assured that they will not change the names of any villages in Kasargod district.
He also informed that the Kerala government has taken steps to telecast Kannada medium classes through local cable channels.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah had written a letter to Vijayan urging his government not to change the names of places.
Vijayan clarification came after objections raised by Karnataka leaders over reports of Kannada names being changed to Malayalam in some areas.
Karnataka leaders including Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa cutting across party lines had written to Vijayan on the same day requesting him to halt the process of renaming villages.
