Udupi: Sahana Kunder, vice president of the Belman gram panchayat in the district here has alleged that her appointment as a member of the Udupi Women’s Commission’s Local Complaint Committee was nullified because of political pressure.

Kunder claims that she was offered the membership of the Committee three months ago but due to the lockdown she could only receive the appointment letter on July 8.

She further claims that at about 9:45 pm on the same day she received a call telling her that her appointment has been put on hold.

When she met Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha to seek clarification on the cancellation of her appointment, he reportedly told her that a police verification was pending so she has been presently removed from the Committee.

Kunder shared the details on her social media accounts alleging that politics was at play in her termination from the Committee.
