After PUC-II results, colleges in a fix over cutoffs

Bengaluru: Colleges across the State are in a dilemma over setting cutoff marks for admissions.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PUC-II examinations were not held and students were assigned marks based on a formula considering their scores in PUC-I and class 10 exams.
As a result, most PUC-II students were passed which in turn increased the number of students eligible for college admission.
Moreover, more than 2,000 students have secured full marks of 600 out of 600.
This has made it difficult for colleges to set the cutoff marks for admission.
As per reports, many colleges in the State have already completed admissions for highly demanding courses.
Presently, there are 430 government colleges and 375 private colleges in the State.
