Bengaluru: Ending days of speculation of a change of guard in Karnataka over the last two weeks, veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa has decided to step down from the post of chief minister after his government completed two years on Monday, July 26.
Since his visit to New Delhi on July 16-17 to meet senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and party president JP Nadda, Yediyurappa has indicated that he will resign once the BJP State government completes two years under his leadership.
He was the chief minister of the southern State four times: in 2007, 2008, 2018 and 2019.
He is the only person who became the chief minister of Karnataka four times leading and led the first BJP-governed State in southern India.
