Bengaluru: A shrine with the ‘Jodi Veragallu’ (pair of braves) carved on them has been found in Solur Dinne village in the Devanahalli taluk of Bengaluru Rural district.
Local gram panchayat member K Srinivas said, “This ‘veeragallu’ shrine has been there for ages. However, most of them have now been lost. We are planning to perform the ‘jeernoddhara’ of the shrines. Poojas, annadanas and parvas were performed in these shrines. We will attempt to restart all those rituals.”
Gram panchayat president Narayanappa said that in the past, the veeragallu would be set up to honour those who died heroically in wars. These carved stones were worshipped and many rituals were regularly performed for them.
