Ullal: Amblimogaru village in the taluk here is a small village with very high hills with the villagers facing water shortage even during the rainy season.
It is about 16 kilometres from Mangaluru city and is within the Mangaluru Assembly constituency.
A part of the village touches the Netravati river. On the other side are the hilly areas.
The village, spread across 1,327.11 acres, has about 1,100 homes and a population of over 7,000.
There are three public wells in the village out of which only one well’s water is suitable for drinking.
Residents in the Tilak Nagar area of the village were forced to buy water from water tanker services for 20 days as the pump of the borewell installed for them broke down.
There are a total of 9 tube wells supplying drinking water to the village. Villagers have to opt for tanker water during summer as the water level in these tube wells fall low or entirely dry up.
The multi-village drinking water project started in the Mangaluru Assembly constituency is in progress and if this project reaches the village, the drinking water problem of this village will be solved.
