Bengaluru: Mannequin-cops to return to ease traffic chaos

Bengaluru: Around 250 mannequin-cops are set to return to ease traffic chaos in Bengaluru. The life-size mannequins, wearing khaki and white police uniforms, reflector jackets, boots, and sunglasses, are placed in certain places to prevent rule-breaking done by motorists.
The concept was introduced by the police commissioner in 2019 for Bengaluru, Bhaskar Rao, and help curb traffic violations by their mere presence. They cost between Rs 4,000 and Rs 6,000 each.
The police claimed that the drivers will mistake them for real police and think twice about breaking the rules of the road.
The mannequins were removed in 2020 when the outbreak began and lockdown restrictions were put in place, now they are all set to make a comeback to the Bengaluru streets.
