Belthangady house robbery: Two robbers who held family hostage arrested

Belthangady: Uppinangady Police arrested two robbers who held a family hostage at their house in Southadka, Belthangady and stole lakhs in cash and materials.
The accused have been identified as Chandrashekhar Shetty (50), resident of Nellyadi and Dawood Hakim (36), resident of Suratkal Soorinje. Earlier, 13 accused in the case were arrested by Moodbidri police.
Chandrashekhar was a distant relative of victim Tukrappa’s wife, he was an auto-rickshaw driver. He collected all information about the business of Tukrappa.
He then conveyed all the information to Basheer, who is already arrested by police and out on bail now. Basheer then informed Dawood Hakim and hatched a plot for dacoity.
On Monday, December 21, 2020, a gang of nine robbers burgled a house on the road leading to the Soutadka temple after tying the house owner, his wife and two children.
The robbers stole lakhs in cash and materials from the house of Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Nuje Tukrappa Shetty.
Shetty’s wife was admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru after being injured by a knife by one of the robbers.
Soon after the robbers left the house Shetty called the Dharmasthala police station who immediately rushed to the spot.
