Mangaluru: Charmadi Ghat opens for light motor vehicles

Mangaluru: Charmadi Ghat, one of the crucial links connecting the coast with the rest of the State has been opened for light motor vehicles and passenger carriers.

With heavy rains increasing the possibility of landslides at Charmadi ghat, authorities had decided to shut the ghat road to vehicular traffic between 7 pm and 6 am.

Now, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V has informed that the Charmadi Ghat on Mangaluru-Villupuram national highway will be opened for the movement of light motor vehicles. KSRTC red buses, six-wheeler trucks are not allowed to move during the night.

However, heavy commercial vehicles, multi-axle trucks, trailer trucks, bullet tankers and KSRTC Rajahamsa, etc are prohibited from using this route.
