Bengaluru: Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Information Technology & Biotechnology Dr CN Ashwath Narayan on Friday said that 30 per cent of the State’s Gross Development Product (GDP) by 2030 will be the digital economy.
The minister inaugurated the office of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) in Mysuru for the Mysuru Cluster.
“Mysuru Cluster along with the clusters at Hubballi and Mangaluru will contribute 5 per cent overall growth of the tech economy before 2030,” he said.
“The KDEM office will strengthen the local digital economy by focusing on internet connectivity, electricity and necessary infrastructure,” he added.
“The Prime Minister has said that India should become a 1 trillion dollar economy by 2025. Karnataka’s contribution to it should be about 300-350 billion dollars and KDEM will facilitate in achieving this target,” Narayan said.
