Mysuru: A Kaavadi (caretaker) was injured while he was trying to escape from an elephant attack in Nagarahole Park, Veeranahosahalli in Mysuru.
It is said that the incident took place while the Kaavadi was trying to attach a radio collar on the elephant. The forest department had planned to use radio collar devices for the wild elephants near the Nagarahole park to reduce possible man-animal conflict.
When Kaavadi Idayat tried to tranquilize the wild elephant, it turned ferocious and started attacking him. Idayat began to run in the opposite direction when he slipped and fell fracturing his left arm.
The locals and the forest staff began screaming and shouting, frightened by this, the elephant left the area.
Forest officials said that the injured Kaavadi has been admitted to the nearby hospital and the wild elephant too was found and radio-collared by the staff.
