156 Afghan students get admission at Mangaluru varsity

Mangaluru: 156 students have successfully received admissions at Mangalore University here.
More than 1,000 applications were received from Afghan students for various courses at university this year.
Of the 156, 31 students have enrolled in undergraduate courses, 111 for postgraduate courses and 14 for doctoral research.
Presently 53 Afghan students are already studying in the university. There are 180 foreign students from 38 countries in the university.
“In the first round, 156 people have been admitted. The current semester examination is underway hence the admissions process for foreign students will be finalised after its completion,” Vice-chancellor Professor PS Yadapadithaya said.
Admission to foreign students at Mangalore University was started in 2014. There were 16 foreign students in the first year.
First Afghan students were admitted to the university in 2015.
