Nearly a month after two employees of a foodstuffs distribution company were abducted from Whitefield, police have arrested six persons including a YouTube news channel reporter for their involvement in the crime.

As per the complaint filed by the firm’s manager Sreenivasa A, the accused, identified as Santosh Kumar had visited the warehouse of Sai Food here some four months ago and introduced himself as a “reporter” for Samraat news channel. He had taken videos of various products there and later he attempted to extort money from the firm’s owner threatening to publish a video saying it sold expired goods.

As the firm’s owner was unrelenting, he ganged up with a rowdy sheeter named Ramesh with help from four other men, allegedly kidnapped the two employees while they were delivering groceries in Whitefield area.

They then contacted Sreenivasa asking him to tell the firm owner to call them. But the owner didn’t call them, forcing the gang to change tack. The suspects drove towards Sarjapur and eventually released the duo.
