Ramanagara: Sandalwood actor Ajay Rao, the protagonist of the underproduction movie ‘Love You Rachu,’ faced questioning at Bidadi police station in taluk here on Thursday.
On August 9, stuntman Vivek died in an electrical accident while shooting at a private coconut plantation at Joganapalya in Bidadi.
Ajay Rao was at the spot at the time of the incident. The FIR registered after the incident does not name Ajay. However, he had applied for anticipatory bail.
On Thursday, he arrived at Bidadi police station on the instructions of Ramanagara DySP Mohan and faced questioning.
Reacting to the allegation that he did not rush to the aid of the injured stuntman when the accident took place, Ajay Rao said, “I was not alone on the sets. I can’t go like everyone else when everyone is there. It was not right for me to go where a huge crowd had collected.”
“Let the film chamber frame rules that the protagonist of the movie should go first whenever any accident happens during the shoot. If I find those who are spreading misinformation on me, I would like to say a few words to them. However, I do not know who these people are,” he added.
“The film crew has not tried to destroy any evidence. The producers will do what they need to help the deceased’s family. I don’t know if the producer has given a cheque. I too will help the deceased’s family,” Ajay said.
The District and Sessions Court had granted anticipatory bail to actor Ajay Rao, producer Guru Deshpande and production manager Fernandes.
The court also granted bail to director Shankar, crane operator Mahadev and stunt director Vinod Kumar, who were in judicial custody.
