Kalaburagi: Former chief minister and JD(S) party leader HD Kumaraswamy said that their party is like an open door. People can come or leave. However, no one will be arrogantly told to leave the party.
After arriving in the city on Monday to campaign for the municipal corporation elections he told reporters, “GT Devegowda had made his decision on joining the Congress. I am not going to comment on it. We are not standing outside houses of other party leaders to bring them into our party, it is the Congress and BJP culture.”
“I am not in favour of the BJP nor of Congress. Congress president had said that he has a soft corner for Yediyurappa. But, we don’t need a soft corner,” he said.
“We could not organise protests or rallies because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will do it when the need arises. Congress leaders are talking about corruption every day. Everyone knows what happened during their tenure,” he added.
“The Congress leaders were not ready for an alliance with us in the Mysuru Municipal Corporation elections. We are confident of coming to power in Kalaburagi Municipal Corporation on our own. We will decide in the future which party to ally with if we do not get a majority,” Kumaraswamy said.
“Nowhere have I said that our party workers are not right. It has been distorted and maligned by the media. Our leaders had said that party workers become passionate only when I visit. That’s what even I said. Our party still exists only because of the lakhs of workers supporting it. I have not done anything to insult the workers,” he said.
