Puttur: Another incident of communal vigilantism in coastal Karnataka has come to light where a trio of two Hindu men and a Muslim woman were stopped and questioned on their journey on Wednesday, September 1.
The incident took place at the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus stand in Puttur.
A few Muslim youths questioned two Hindu men who were found with the Muslim lady visiting a lodge near the bus stand.
It is said that Hanumantharaya from Manvi taluk became friends with a Muslim lady from Puttur via Instagram. The friendship turned into love and Hanumantharaya had come to Puttur to meet the girl.
The youths were chatting with the girls sitting on the chairs at the bus stand, when the five accused went near them and started questioning the boy for speaking to the girl from a different faith and threatened him.
However, soon the police reached the spot, dispersed the crowd and sent the trio away.
The youth has also registered a complaint in the town police station stating that he has been assaulted.
