Belagavi: A flood assessment team (IMCT) visited villages in Belagavi on Sunday. The flood report will be submitted to the government within 10 days.
They went around villages in Khanapura Taluk and other affected areas. They were apprised of the magnitude of the floods and the estimated damage by the local leaders. The team was also briefed about the crop losses and damage to infrastructure due to rains and floods.
The team said that a meeting will be held with the Chief Minister and a report will be submitted to the Union government in the next 10 days.
IMCT is headed by Sushil Pal, a senior official in the Ministry of Home Affairs. The team is on a four-day visit to the State to assess the damage caused by floods and landslides in July. The team would be split into three groups and visit flood and landslide-hit districts of Belagavi, Bagalkot, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada and Haveri.
