Bengaluru: 125 kg sandalwood logs, tools seized; 5 held for theft

Bengaluru: Five people have been arrested for the alleged theft of sandalwood in Bengaluru by the Gangamanagudi Police Station team.

125 kg of sandalwood logs, multiple saws, and other tools have been seized from the accused. The accused had chopped sandalwood trees from Air Force Engineers Garrison Campus.

City’s Police Commissioner Kamal Pant on Saturday tweeted, “Sandalwood thieves busted! The Gangamanagudi PS team has apprehended a gang of 5 including 3 inter-state robbers for sandalwood theft. The accused persons chopped the sandalwood trees from the Airforce Engineers Garrison Campus recently and were intending to sell them.”

“125 Kg of Sandalwood logs, multiple saws, and other tools the gang used to fell the trees have been seized. Further investigation is underway,” he added.
