Mangaluru: Bag-snatching attempt; “It was a mock drill,” says Compol

Mangaluru: The City Police commissioner Shashi Kumar has issued a clarification regarding the bag-snatching attempt near St Agnes church and said that it was a mock drill conducted by the police.

Speaking further he said that only a few people within the department were aware of the mock drill conducted to assess public and police response to such crimes.

The lady battling the thief in the video happens to be Shobha Kateel who imparts self-defence training to women.

Shashi Kumar further said, ” We are happy that the locals came forward to help the lady and also tried to nab the accused. Also, the incident occurred around 11 am and the matter reached the police station within three-four minutes. The police officials’ preparedness is satisfactory “
