Bengaluru: Bengaluru police officials have arrested a man, his wife and girlfriend on charges of murdering his 10-year-old son.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sachin Kumar (31), his wife Sindhu (26) and his girlfriend Nadia, all residents of Bengaluru Gurappanapalya. Sachin is a private company employee, wife Sindhu and Nadia are employed with a garment factory.

Sachin filed a missing person’s complaint with Mico Layout police in the southeast division on August 26. He claimed that his son had gone missing from his friend’s house on February 7.

Police immediately suspected him as no parent would wait for six months to complain about his/her missing child.

Further enquiries, revealed that Kumar was having an extramarital affair with Nadia. Also, Kumar stated that his son went missing from his friend’s house but his friend told the police that the kid never came to his house.

Police then interrogated Kumar and Nadia who confessed the crime. On February 7 night, Kumar’s son said something about Kumar’s affair with Nadiya. Angered by this, Kumar allegedly killed the 10-year-old boy by smashing his head using a metal pile and other objects in front of Nadia.

After Sindhu returned home, Kumar and Nadiya confessed to her about the crime. Kumar requested Sindhu to protect him and promised he wouldn’t be involved with Nadia. Sindhu agreed to keep the matter a secret.

The trio then covered the body in bedsheets and bundled it into a car Kumar borrowed from his friend and drove to forests near Bargur in Tamil Nadu. The body was disposed of there.

They have been remanded in judicial custody and are lodged at Central Prison (Parappana Agrahara).
