Confirming the same, Udayan Mishra, the district magistrate of Katihar said that the amount is reflecting in the mini statements and senior officials of the Uttar Bihar Gramin bank were informed of this.

Upon learning the same, bank officials put the accounts on freeze and stopped withdrawal. “When inquired with the parents of the children, they were also unable to reveal the source of the fund. Now, we are investigating the matter to find out who is the sender,” said M.K. Madhukar, the LDM of Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank.

In a similar instance, Ranjit Das of Bihar’s Khagaria district had received Rs 5.5 lakh in his Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank account recently.

The man claimed that he thought it to be the first installment of Rs 15 lakh promised by PM Modi to every citizen. He refused to return the money to the bank stating that he had spent it. Das was arrested by the police on basis of an FIR lodged by bank’s manager.
