Mangaluru: Police officials who intercepted a pickup vehicle at Poopadi Kallu Cross near Mudipu found cows being transported illegally and have arrested two persons besides rescuing the cows from the vehicle.
The two cows were being taken to an illegal slaughterhouse at Marikala. Police acted on the tip-off given by Bajrang Dal (BD) on Thursday, September 16.
It is said that when questioned, the accused said that these cows were purchased by a local agriculturist of Poopady Kallu from the milk producers’ society and they were transporting the same to deliver them to the agriculturist.
Police officials have taken both the accused into custody.
