Mangaluru: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) southern province secretary, Sharan Pumpwell, on Monday said that thefts are increasing in temples and Bhajana Mandirs located within the city and warned of strong protest if Police officials fail to nab the culprits.
He was speaking during a protest organized at Neermarga junction to condemn the failure of the police in arresting the culprits of the recent theft in Subrahmanya Bhajana Mandali, Neermarga, on Monday September 20.
He said, ” The thefts are increasing in temples within the city limits. In addition, miscreants are also dumping dirty things into the donation boxes and uploading obscene morphed pictures of our gods on social media. All of this must be stopped. As Hindus we cannot remain mute spectators. Police officials must take strict action against them.”
Hindu Jagaran Vedike Mangaluru leader, Ganaraj Bhat, said, “Police are busy targeting poor people and filing cases against auto rickshaw drivers. If police are unable to catch the thieves, we may have to take this responsibility ourselves.”
Subrahmanya, Bhajana Mandir office bearer, Sheshadri Bhat, president, Tukaram and others were present.
