Mangaluru: Woman cheated of Rs 5 lakh by fraudsters who gave flat on lease with fake records

Mangaluru: A woman lost Rs 5 lakh to fraudsters who gave a flat located on K S Rao Road on lease using fake records.
It is said that in June 2020, the woman from Beltangady working in a private medical store in the city was searching for a house for rent.
She then met a broker named Pradeep who told her that a flat located on K S Rao road was on lease. The woman agreed and paid Rs 5 lakh as the deposit amount.
The woman was told that a man named Muhammed Ashraf was the owner of the flat, the parties signed an agreement and she moved into the flat.
Three months later, a person named Muhammed Ali visited her flat and demanded rent payment for three months. The woman told him about the lease agreement but the man said he was the owner of the flat. She then realised that she was cheated by the fraudsters.
The woman has now filed a complaint in the Bunder police station. It is said that several similar complaints have been registered in the city.
