Hubballi: The district administration has declared a holiday for 12 schools in areas surrounding Nrupatunga Betta in Hubballi, in view of leopard sightings in the vicinity.
District Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, in an order issued on Tuesday, said that offline classes for 12 schools at Shiradi Nagar, Chamundeshwari Nagar, Santosh Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Vishweshwar Nagar and surrounding areas were suspended till the leopard is trapped by the forest department officials.
“These schools can continue with the online classes and students must not come to schools until the leopard search operation is completed,” DC Nitesh Patil ordered.
Following the sighting of the leopard at Nrupatunga Betta on September 15 night, entry of citizens to the pyramid meditation centre adjacent to the Betta also has been prohibited.
